Golden Retrievers Bring Comfort To Victims Of Las Vegas Shooting
Golden Retriever therapy dogs and their handlers from Lutheran Church Charities traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to bring much-needed comfort to those affected by the horrific Las Vegas mass shooting that killed 58 innocent people and left over 500 more people injured.
The comfort dogs spent time with patients at Sunrise Hospital, which is located just minutes from the scene of the shooting. In addition to visiting hospitals, the dogs spent time at schools, churches, with first responders and also took part in community vigils.
Lutheran Church Charities started its comfort dog program after Hurricane Katrina and strongly believes that support from a comfort dog aids significantly in the healing process after a traumatic event. Now, LCC has about 100 dogs across the country and prior to the tragic Las Vegas shooting, they went to Texas to help flooding victims affected by the devastating Hurricane Harvey.
The nonprofit organization has set up a link for those interested in donating to help fund their trip to Las Vegas.
