Employees at the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) in Maryland like to take a heartwarming approach to waking up the dogs under their care after surgery.
The shelter shared a video on its Facebook page showing a couple of their vet techs sweetly comforting a couple of pups who were waking up after having just gotten out of surgery.
Instead of leaving the vulnerable four-legged patients alone to wake up in their kennels, vet techs Dennis Moses and Amanda Greenwell woke them up with a slow dance while lovingly and gently cradling them in their arms. "I think it helps them to recover and helps us with relieving some stress from today's work," Dennis Moses told The Dodo.
The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter takes in over 11,000 animals every year. But, employees at BARCS make sure to show each animal the attention they deserve. The shelter's sweet approach at waking up animals after surgery is just one example of that.
"We have a really great surgery team here. We do 25 to 30 surgeries per day. Everyone needs to be shown some love. Even for a few minutes," Moses said.
We absolutely pawsitively agree. After all, folks will know how large your soul is by the way you treat a dog.
